Object Description
Large certificate on paper. The decoration consists of statues of women on pillars on both the left and right side holding up a wreath with a bird. On the top on a decorative scroll reads "The Supreme Lodge" and under that reads "Order Ahepa". The rest of the document reads: "The Supreme Lodge of the Order of Ahepa having been informed that brother George Vanis was on the eleventh day of March 1934 duly initiated into the sacred mysteries of the Ahepa by Portsmouth Chapter No 295 does hereby confer upon him the degree of Archon Polites, with all honors, rights and privileges thereto belonging. In testimony whereof, and by virtue of authority in us vested, we have granted this certificate and cause the seal of the Supreme Lodge to be affixed thereto. Given at Washington in the District of Columbia this 29th day of March in the year of our Lord 1934." The certificate is then signed by the Supreme President Harris J. Booras and by the Supreme Secretary Achilles Catsonis. A large golden seal is located at the bottom left hand corner.
