Object Description
A oval icon of St. Barbara holing a golden chalice in her left hand and palm fronds with a cross in her right arm. St. Barbara adorn with a golden halo is shown wearing a blue dress with a red robe with golden trimming, and a golden crown with jewels placed upon her head. The back is composed of a solid blue color with small rope allowing the icon to be hanged.
Origin
The object is owned by the Powers family and is connected to other items and photographs within the same collection. Travel icons are meant to be hung in areas such as rear-view mirrors or on backpacks and suitcases. They are meant to ward off evil and keep the holder safe in their travels.
