Object Description
A certificate awarded by Greek school of Socrates. The diploma is printed on beige stationery with decorative orange border surrounding the text which is printed in black ink, and has the image of an owl resting on a tree branch, also printed with black ink located in the center. Towards the bottom is a blue award sticker with Greek text. The document is written in Greek, reading, "Greek School Socrates, Full six grade Greek American School of the Hellenic Community Association of Chicago. Indicative the student, Papagelis Georgios from Sparta, aged 10 who attend all the Greek and English classes taught in class D! during the school year 1939..1940 was promoted to the E! class with a grade of Very good. His conduct was Keopia in Chicago on June 14, 1932." The document is sign by the teacher and principle located at the bottom.
