Object Description
Interior of the Annunciation Cathedral, seat of the Bishop of the Greek Orthodox Diocese of Chicago.

Black and white photograph. Photo shows the part of the naive, and aisles, the apse and altar of the cathedral. The interior is very ornate and features marble columns that appear to be made of marble, done in the Corinthian order, the apse features an image of the Madonna and Child surrounded by cherubs. There are a number of paintings in arches in front of the altar space, ornate candelabras, a Greek and American flag, carpeting leading toward the altar, and wooden pews in the aisles.
Origin
Built in 1910, the Cathedral is considered one of the finest examples of Byzantine architecture in America
