Object Description
Photograph of the parade committee for the Greek Independence Day celebration of 1975. In 1821, Greeks vigorously rose up against the oppressive Ottoman Empire which had occupied Greece for nearly four hundred years, embarking on the ultimately successful war of independence. An annual parade in the streets of Chicago commemorates this major time of celebration for the people of Greece.
