Object Description
A plaque located in a grassy area that reads , "Ypsilanti Sesquicentennial Time Capsule July 8, 1973, Open July 4, 2023". The capsule is near the base of a bust of General Demetrios Ypsilantis, just west of the Ypsilanti Water Tower. The tower is listed in the National Register of Historic Places, and is a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark.
Origin
Ypsilanti (1793- 1832) was a hero of the Greek War of Independence. The Ypsilanti Water Tower (1890) was named in his honor, as was the town of Ypsilanti itself (1829).
