Object Description
Vintage postcard with Greek scene.

Seems to be a park area with a statue of a man/soldier. There are trees in the background and there seems to be a park bench off to the right of the picture. The bench is cut off from the photograph. The soldier himself is made in what seems to be lighter colored concrete. To the left of him is a log? and some sort of leafy green or wheat object. There is then a pyramid shaped area with dark stones underneath the feet of the solider. On the edges of said area are two plaques. One to the left, and one on the front. The one on the front reads "1912-1922" and is then followed by Greek text. The one to the left is illegible from the photograph's angle, but also seems to be in Greek text. Underneath the stone pyramid area is a large, light concrete, base. Printed on the photograph in white text, located on the front side of the lighter colored, large concrete base is Greek text. Also written in white text off to the lower left of the photo is the text, "No. 23".

On the opposite side of the postcard are three stamps, the first colored bright red, the second is a dark green, and the third is a dusty red color. Over those stamps are two black, circular ink stamps. Continuing on the right hand side of the back of the postcard are three lines with the address for, "Mr. James Gouostis(?), 1700 W. Lake St., Chicago Ill. U.S.A." To the left of "Chicago" is another medium sized black ink stamp. Switching over to the lefthand side of the back of the postcard, is a short message that reads, "Tripoli, June 6, 1937, Dear James, We are on our way to passing through Tripoli. Tripoli is a fine place. Everything fine. Father Mother Daisy."
Origin
