Object Description
White crocheted circular doily with radiating design. The center of the doily has a circular hole, which acts as the center of the inner flower. Outside this flower, there are six flowers at six points, outside of which there are six petals. The doily then has a rather holey border. The doily isn't completely symmetrical, however.
Origin
Doilies were used to protect furniture or as decoration. Crocheting is a way of creating design out of thread using a crochet needle (which has a small hook on the end). As opposed to knitting, crocheting involved having only one loop of cloth open at a time.
