Object Description
Victor phonograph needle case with gold print. Tin has red cover with classic dog and phonograph image, "His Master's Voice." At the top right corner "full tone," and at the left right "Victor Needles." In much smaller black font at the bottom edge is "Reg. U.S. Pat. Off.. M.DE F .M.IND.REGTRDA NOS. 4176 Y 418Q 1 DE FEBRERO 1904."
Origin
Victor needle company patented the first official in cabinet horn phonograph in 1905. It's very likely that the Barbatsuly's owned one of these first phonographs because of this case. However, it is also possible that they owned an older model of the phonograph (external horn) and merely purchased Victor Needles in this very case to play on that horn. This style of needle was patented in 1904 as is inscribed on the front of the case.
