Object Description
Woven wool square-shaped handbag (tagari). Rose-colored background with black thread woven in and Grecian vase design with Greek key. Cream-colored rope strap with a fringe at the bottom.
Origin
Tagari purses are Greek-style cloth bags used and made by Greek villagers in the 1940s through the 1950s as transportation for food and goods. They were once common in the rural areas of Greece and surrounding European areas for practicality. They are now more of a fashion statement.
