Object Description
Portable inkwell. This inkwell is made of hand crafted bronze, engraved with an all-over ornamental design. The inkwell is square with a circular bowl, and is attached by one of its four sides to a long, square, hollow tube used for the storage of feather pens.  The flap or lid that folds over the inkwell and the flap or lid that folds over the pen box are both missing.
Origin
Donated by Dr.'s Antony and Maria Zannis. This inkwell belonged to their grandfather. And the item was used by scribes during the Turkish occupation of Greece who traveled and provided a service. The service was writing for those Greeks incapable of being able to write.
