Object Description
This chocolate mold yields four identical 2.5 inch turkeys. All of the turkeys are facing the same direction.  The mold is made of two pieces of metal, mirror images of each other, held together by a thin, long metal rod that runs across the top. There are thick horizontal bands of metal  attached to the outside of mold.  One side of these bands has the remnants of an imprint "P" or "D" then "644 Germany."  The turkey mold is very detailed.  The texture of the feathers on wings and tails are distinctive. You can make out the detailed impression of the feet on the base of each turkey.
Origin
This item was donated as a part of the Dove Candy Collection by Michael Stephanos. Michael is Leo Stefanos' son and now runs his fathers company. The mold was used in making chocolate for the Dove company.

The Dove Candies & Ice Cream brand began as Chicago sweet shops owned by Leo Stefanos, a Greek-American. Stefanos created the Dove brand of ice cream bars in 1956.He sold these locally in Chicago until 1985 when distribution began in selected cities around the country.
