Object Description
Beige and taupe table mat with cutout work. Handmade using linen fabric and taupe colored cotton thread. This rectangle placemat has a plain central rectangle with surrounding ornate, geometric design and cutout work. The geometric design can be described as having a wide variety of sqaure shapes, crosses, triangles, and so on. The border is delicate utilizing only the thread material. There is a small stain on one side in the central rectangle.
Origin
This table mat was created in Myteline, Greece by Mina Tiftinksis. It can be used for a table setting when dining. It can also be used as a basic home accessory. It is unknown how or when the textile made its way to the US, nor is it known how the donor acquired it from Mina Tiftinksis.
